Zabier

Zabier brings a broadly educated versatility and eclectic experience to both his DJ sets and his music production. Cutting his teeth over the past five years as a full-time private dj, he has played hundreds of gigs in bars and at bar mitzvahs to house parties big and small, club nights and corporate functions for over 200 white collar party animals - Zabier has practically done it all. The Kardashian Kollection fashion launch in Sydney, Google Loves Data conference, being filmed getting The Bachelor Australia and his girls to dance by the pool, roller-skating rinks, harbour cruises, playing in a shop front display window and even backing up late night Fridays to hit play at 6am on a Saturday morning at the gym. The private functions were balanced with twice weekly residencies at bars scattered through inner Sydney earning pocket money for 4 hours of straight djing. The hard yards have been honed practicing technical skills and training his ears, the range of bookings expanded his musical knowledge and the ever varying audiences taught him not just how to read a crowd but all sorts of crowds in all kinds of scenarios. Zabier has taken it all in his stride, building his confidence while keeping the ego in check and establishing a level of professionalism that sees him winning favour with everyone he has had the fortune of associating with.Alongside the DJ adventure Brent studied Electronic Music Production at the renowned SAE Institute's Sydney campus in 2012. While attending he was hand picked from hundreds of hopefuls to produce and host his own radio show on Energy-Groove Radio which was the starting point for his genre-blending Eclectic series (now close to its 20th release). Having been the only student to actually finish the entire EMP course in his class, Brent was nominated as an 'Alumni Superstar' His spare time is still spent producing, mostly, with just a laptop and a pair of headphones although in the past year invaluable time is spent working at a professional recording studio. This minimalistic approach lead to making the most of what he had to work with and has been an important step in developing the Zabier sound. One of the earliest contributors to an internationally recognised music channel while working under the previous alias of MidnightGenius, Brent's mixes have tallied as high as 64,000 plays and attracted new fans from all over the world while inexplicably remaining an undiscovered talent within the local scenes. An invitation to be interviewed on community radio lead to a brief affair with hosting duties himself (albeit at a different community station) before relocating to his hometown of Wollongong on the South Coast so as to be closer to recording studio. Zabier's persistence and dedication has paid off with his remix being included on a release from Deep House Aficionado in 2014 and his very own single, with remixes, being debuted via Fracture Recordings in 2015.
